Terms of service
Effective October 4, 2026
Lazy Susan is a family calendar for a kitchen TV, with a phone app for adding things to it. It is run by Kara Burkhalter, an individual in Wisconsin. In these terms "we" and "us" mean Kara Burkhalter, and "Lazy Susan" means the phone app, the TV app and the website at lazysusan.app.
By creating an account or using Lazy Susan, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Lazy Susan is a beta
- It is free during the beta, and it is open by invitation only.
- It is still being built. Features will change, and some may be removed.
- It may be unavailable at times, and there is no promise of uptime.
- Information you put in it could be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose. "Download my data" in Settings gives you one.
- The beta may end. If we shut Lazy Susan down, we will try to give you at least 30 days' notice in the app so you can download your information first.
If paid plans are added later, you will be asked to agree before you are charged anything.
Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must be in the United States.
- You need an invitation to the beta, or an invitation from an adult in a household that is already in it.
Your account
- Give a real email address that you control.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- An account belongs to one household at a time.
- Tell us at support@lazysusan.app if you think someone else has used your account.
Households
- The person who creates a household is its owner. The owner can remove adults, hand the household to another adult, and delete the household's information. Any adult in the household can add or remove a TV.
- Every adult in a household can see and change everything the household shares. Only invite people you are willing to share all of it with.
- Anyone who can see a TV you have added can see what the household puts on it.
- If you add a child's name, you confirm that you are the child's parent or guardian, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
What you put in Lazy Susan
- It stays yours.
- You give us permission to store it and to show it on your household's phones and TVs. That is the only use we make of it.
- You are responsible for it, and for having the right to add it. That includes photos.
- Recipes and recipe photos saved from other websites belong to the people who published them. Lazy Susan keeps a copy for your household's own use in your kitchen. Don't republish or redistribute them.
Our privacy policy at lazysusan.app/privacy explains what we collect and how it is handled.
What you agree not to do
- Break the law with it.
- Try to reach another household's information, or get around the checks that keep households separate.
- Interfere with the service or put an unreasonable load on it, including with automated tools.
- Use invitations to send messages to people who aren't joining your household.
- Use it to store or share anything that is unlawful or that violates someone else's rights.
Other companies' services
Signing in with Google or Amazon, and using a Fire TV, are subject to those companies' own terms. We aren't responsible for their services.
Ending your use
- You can stop at any time. Settings has "Delete account", and deletion is immediate and can't be undone.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your information.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Lazy Susan without owing you anything for them.
No warranty
Lazy Susan is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, free of errors or secure, or that your information will never be lost.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of Lazy Susan. Our total liability for any claim about Lazy Susan is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 50 US dollars.
Some states don't allow some of these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. Any dispute about these terms or about Lazy Susan will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you and we agree to those courts.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and show a notice in the app. If you keep using Lazy Susan after a change takes effect, you agree to the new terms. If you don't agree, stop using it and delete your account.
